To fully grasp the life
transforming power of
Jesus Christ
one must experience it
personally. But as we
share our testimonies
our hope is that you will
come to understand
what Jesus of Nazareth
will do for you if you
make Him the Lord of
your life.
The thing about being lost is, that if lost is all you know, then lost becomes normal.
If drinking and doing whatever drugs you can get your hands on is a normal part of
your day, of your daily routine, then that bondage becomes normal and you can't for
the life of you, understand why everyone doesn't want to run to the beat of the same
drummer who has taken your life captive. If you grow up in a world where no one you
is saved, then it's the power of Jesus that seems weird and the bondages of a life
without God seem normal and familiar. No wonder the bible says,
"There is a way that
seems right to a man, but it's end is the way of death."
Proverbs 14:12

Such was my life growing up in New York City. My father was a functioning alcoholic
who eventually pickled his liver and died of cirrhosis in his early fifties which left me
fatherless at the age of thirteen. I began using drugs at the age of sixteen and quickly
developed a taste for the alternate reality that drugs can bring. At seventeen I went off
to college at the University of Miami and found, at that time, a large percentage of the
undergraduates using drugs and drinking heavily whenever they could arrange it.

After college I married my wife, Jane, (now pastor Jane, thank You, Jesus) and my drug
and alcohol habits were becoming less like fun and more like work as the claws of the
invisible enemy began to dig deeper and deeper into my soul. As our marriage began to
unravel I got my first clues of the bondage I was in. I would vow to myself,
"I'm not
gonna drink today",
only to find myself in the same condition again day after day.
Skipping ahead, in 1981, my sister in law invited us to go see a comedian on campus at
the University of Florida, his name was Mike Warnke. He had been a satanist and I had
read some of his book, "The Satan Seller" and was interested in hearing him.  He never
did talk about his time as a satanic high priest but he was hilariously funny and at the
end of his routine he asked everyone to stand and recite a prayer to make Jesus the
Lord of their lives.  Growing up in a neighborhood full of Catholics I was a little
familiar with the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost and I believed that Jesus was the
Son of God and had died for my sins but I had never done what the bible said, I had
never confessed with my mouth that Jesus died for me, I had never confessed with my
mouth and believed in my heart that God had raised Him from the dead, I had never
made Jesus my Lord personally. When I did that, BAM!, Jesus Christ, by His Spirit,
came down and rescued me. I became born again and at that instant, there was a rush
of love and forgiveness into my soul, as the weight of my sin was finally gone. It felt as
if I had lost 100 pounds. All the anger and bitterness, all the lust and hunger for sin was
gone, in an instant, I was born again, a brand new man, a child of God.

Here I stand, so many years later, clean, straight and sober, thankful for God's mercy
and His grace to save a wretch like me, I once was lost, but now I'm found, I was blind
but now I see. His grace is amazing, won't you call upon Jesus today? Won't you
receive His forgiveness and allow Him to give you a new life.

The bible says,
"If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have past
away; behold, all things have become new."
II Corinthians 5:17

The bible says,
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become
children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor
of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."
John 1:12,13

The bible says,
"God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send
His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be
John 3:16,17

All is forgiven in heaven, won't you call home, the Father God would love to hear from
you, He loves you so much. So much that He gave His Son so that you could be free.
